Exploring Self-Love

I recall a time in my journey where self-love seemed a distant and unattainable goal. When I would hear someone say, “you must love yourself first,” I struggled with understanding and conceptualizing it. I once thought that to love myself meant to forsake all others, but honestly to love myself meant acknowledging, embracing, and seeing myself and others as imperfect humans. When I dug into self-love from a spiritual stance, I was able to understand and conceptualize it better. God created me in his image and likeness, he instructed me to love my neighbor as I loved myself. Therefore, how can I love anyone if I don’t first love myself?

From where I now stand in this journey, I cannot believe I spent years not loving myself. Who am I to forsake love for myself when God created me in his image and likeness.

Today, I want to empower you to stand firm on the importance of self-love, explore what it means and how it looks to love yourself. Stop forsaking self-love, embark upon this journey with a willingness to love yourself differently and more.

This week focus on identifying how you practice self-love. When was the last time you cared for yourself without guilt or shame? What will you do this week that shows how you love God, yourself, and others?

Sending you positive wellness vibes!
